This is what I ordered to take my old broken one out.

I found out you have to be careful using the socket, as if your ratchet is not totally straightly aligned with the sensor, and you go to turn it, it will most likely break the sensor, this seems to happen more when removing them luckily, at least in my experience from replacing mine a few times.

If you can get a wrench on it you'll be better off, but if your space to use a wrench is limited as mine was (of course I have the longer sensor), then that socket is the only way to go.

Usually oil pressure sensors are 27mm I thought. They do make special sockets for them because they are oddly shaped, but I'm sure 27mm is the correct size. Haven't changed one on a 3800 but changed the one on my truck not long ago and that was the size.

Well, sensor and oil was 38 bucks, free filter. Stopped by a buddies house and grabbed a Crescent (he told me he had a 7/8ths and didn't). Managed to get it switched out but I'll tell you what, it took about 45 minutes! Next time I'll spend the 10 bucks on the wrench...

Thanks again guys. I'm going to browse around and see if I can't offer a little bit of help. Because chances are ,I won't be back on until the Regal stumps me again.

Cheers!

Thanks for keeping us posted!

Oh you don't have to wait until your Regal hiccups again. Remember, we are an appointment free clinic. Come in anytime, grab a cold one out of the fridge and pull up a stool.
