I just read your original post again, and I'm going to say your torque converter is slipping badly. What does the fluid look and smell like? Check it after driving so it'* good and mixed up.

That is a good thought....

When you check the fluid in the 3T40, it should be a reddish pink color, a slight tint of brown will be normal if the fluid hasn't been changed in a long time...

If the fluid id dark brown to black and smells burnt, like a charcoal grill of sorts than you have some real problems...

And yes this is a good point bill, As I have seen the 3T40'* clog a filter if the fluid and filter have never been changed, causing a loss of drive...

Both the trans and the Fuel pressure seem to be good things to check...

Its simple but a wee bit messy to drop the pan and replace the filter.... But it may be the problem...

Great thought Bill

If the fluid looks like we suspect it may be.......it might not be a bad idea to run a batch of Seafoam Trans-Tune through it for about a week, then drop the pan and do the filter. If the fluid is that burnt, it may have lacquered up the valve body and solonoids.
