OK. That'* easy enough to do. Old key to the run position. New key in the new lock cylinder which is electrically connected to the system. Check the security light to see what it does.
I will try that.
P1629, Theft Deterrent System-Cranking Signal? Is that correct?
The pellets in the keys (old and new) are within 0.001 kOhms of each other so that should be OK.
Thanks, wnlewis

Tech II, I set things up the way that you said. The security light came on for three seconds and then went out.
So it looks to me like, it is time to pull the steering wheel, insert the new lock cylinder and button everything back up.
Incidentally, I need one of the screws that holds the plate to the back of the SIR in the steering wheel, not sure where it went. Where can I get one?
I also need the socket that the multi function turn signal plugs into. In the process of getting the little socket out, I broke off the pin that goes in the small hole that holds it in place. If I can get the pin piece out of the hole, I might be able to re-attach it.
Thanks, wnlewis

Cathedralcub, Thank you for the advice. The 1995 LeSabre is OBD 1. Any thoughts for an OBD 1 or OBD 1 and 2 combination? I don't have an Android. I do have a computer. I would like to be able to do diagnostics and reset things.

My bad, forgot this is a 1995. Tech II would know more about this, but yours is OBD1.5 so it'* more difficult than OBD1 or OBD2. You might need a dealer or someone with a Tech II tool to scan it.

The steering column, steering wheel, lock cylinder, etc., are back in place and the car runs. Thank you to all of you!
I did have to throw away the cheap lock cylinder and keys that I got on line. The lock cylinder would not turn half the time.
A local locksmith, Barry, who owns Howard'* Lock & Key, had an AC/Delco (I asked for that) and two GM VATS #3 keys.
That lock cylinder and keys work perfectly.
Thanks again, wnlewis
