Smile How can I tell if programmer or the actuator is bad?

I am fighting a problem with my 94 Lesabre. Got new climate controller and have now determined the actuator for the air blend door is not working. Got juice to the actuator, 3 wires one is hot I assume other two go to programmer and or control switch. How can you tell if programmer or the actuator is bad, switch and replace or????

If you replaced the controller and it still doesn't work I'm betting the actuator is bad. I believe all three wires go to the controller. If you can get to the two 5.5 millimeter bolts that hold the actuator in place I would take it loose and see if it moves when you control the *****. Also see if you can move the door with a pair of pliers it could be something inside the heater box that has jammed the door.

Thanks guys. Went to local junk yard got actuator,HVAC contoller, and door switch for $5.85, had to pull them myself. Got them out of a 1993 Lesabre custom. Installed actuator and bingo that was it. I also pulled the ECM and PCM out of car at same time and got them both for $15.00 to keep as spares. For anyone in the Minneapolis area the place is next door to Johns Auto parts in Blaine, pull your own parts, great deals.

I was having similar problems with my PA a while back. I don't know how many hours I spent testing wires and swapping parts trying to diagnose the problem. I finally broke down and took it to the dealer. In two minutes he had a read out that told him exactly what part was malfunctioning. In my case I should have went there first. It would have saved a ton of time.
