Default buick 3800 series 2 cat size

Hello again,
I have a 2004 buick Park Avenue and my catalytic converter has gone kaput on me. I was given an estimate at the dealership that it would cost them $1500 to replace the thing, so of course I said no. Now, I am looking at getting a flow master cat as a replacement. Can anyone tell me what length and size pipe i should be getting? i know that my muffler is 2.25 but I'm not sure if the cat is different... any suggestions while i'm here?

Do you have to worry about inspections and/or emissions testing.

I believe it'* a 2.5" pipe at the cat.

Unfortunately, you will be forced to use an OEM cat converter. Some aftermarket cats will trip an O2 code.

Is there a way to not trip the code? Or have you heard of any cats that will not?

It'* a possibility. We've had members here in the past upgrade the cats on the 2000+ Bonnevilles with codes.

Only way to find out is to put one in and see what happens.

Not going to help you if you have worry about emissions....that just fools the car'* PCM, it'* not going to fool an emission test from your tailpipe....

Does your car have California emissions? Does the state have California emissions?

Dealership wants 1500? What are they replacing, the whole exhaust?

No, I live in Texas so I dont think we have Cali emissions (Not positive, however). I do not have to get another emissions test because I already had that done when the car was bought. Yes, the dealership said the only part they could order was the entire exhaust system. I kindly turned them down and am not looking at getting the ZZP downpipe w/ cat already in it. Might as well knock that out while we are at it!
