Default body control module

I have a 2002 buick lesabre limited, the mirrors for left and right will not stay in position, also the radio will change stations and the vents will not direct the flow of air to the proper position like windshield or floor or vents, came across a video while doing some reseach and the conditions indicate a bad BCM, i can get a new BCM but wonder if I need to have it? programmed?

I would do some testing before condemning it. Likely needs programming.

thank you for responding. further research seems to confirm problems with BCM, one person took out the BCM and opened it up to look at the solder points on the circuit board found several broken solder points and just fixed it with flux and solder and it works just fine, I did purchase a BCM and there are conflicting views on weather to have it programmed or not, most say its not necessary to have it flashed

Many of the modules can be fixed by soldering cold joints.

is having the BCM flashed the same as programming, also some owners of GM vehicles say that all you need to do is swap out the old BCM (mine is 20 years old) and put in the new and use your original key and insert the key into ignition and turn it on and it will automatically program the the new BCM, also my 2002 lesabre limited has anti theft does that make any difference??

Having the security will likely need to program.

woah woah slow it down cowboy, i hope you didnt already take this step of replacing.
Back it the frig up, GET YOUR CAR SCANNED FOR CODES. Not just P for powertrain codes, B for body codes, C for Chassis codes, and U for commnications codes. A auto store prob cant do that, but a mechanic or friend with a tool can.. YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO A SINGLE THING WITHOUT FIRST DOING THAT. Only thing You CAN do without doing that is verifying the grounds in your car are good. There are some on the side of the car by your feet on both sides that your dash use, then you need to make sure your battery under back seat is grounded to the sheet metal of the car well, if you look under the seat you will find the negative cable runs to the engine bay, yes, but there should be one branched off onto the body, likely on a beam of the little cabin under your seat or onto the back of the back seats area which would be accessed from the trunk. its likely next to the battery tho. CHeck other grounds, you can find lists online.
