Ok, I am stumped. Hopefully someone is familiar with correct diagnosis of this frustrating noise! I bought this 1998 Park Ave a little over a year ago, it has 137,000 miles, clean and has run well. It has had this annoying and BAD sound ever since I purchased it. I have always noticed it only when making a right turn, at LOW speed, moderate speed or HIGH speed. The slightest turn of the wheel to the right, even at highway speed, like just turning the wheel a inch to the right or more to change lanes, you hear this scraping, grind, rubbing noise! At first I thought it sounded just like a brake rotor/parts rubbing, but...inspection revealed nothing. I replaced all front brake pads and rotors....and eventually both front wheel bearing assemblies and both half shaft axles....no change whatsoever.So .... with all the responses I had read before from various sources, everyone was completely convinced it was the wheel bearing(*) or CV joints/axles...NOT. More recently I have read there were problems with the rack & pinion but this sounds like a part "spinning/scraping/rubbing (and speeds up/ slows down with RPM), and the noise is NOT present if I am NOT accelerating or even just take my foot off the accelerator while turning RIGHT, the moment I ever so slight depress the accelerator again while turning RIGHT, said scraping/grinding/rubbing noise comes immediately back to life...but goes away as soon as vehicle is tracking straight. I also recently read it could be a bad trans output shaft bearing??? Any takers??! Thanks

Check the gap between the dust shield and the rotor?
