Default 96 Park Ave. Keep or replace air suspension

I have a 96 Park Ave. that I'm replacing the front and rear struts. I purchased the air struts for the rear but don't know if I should convert to non air struts. I don' even know if the compressor works or not. The old struts were completely shot, leaking oil all over the place. I can't find any info on the net on how to test the air system. I haven't installed the new air struts yet and as I stated I don't even know if the compressor and other components work. How can I test the system? I'm sure the hoses etc. are in bad shape, so would I be better off going airless.
Thanks .Larry

I vote to keep it because the system is relatively simple and easy to maintain. The service manuals suggest placing weight in the trunk (they use 300lbs) and with the ignition on the compressor should come on within 30 seconds.

Also keep in mind the rear spring rates count on the level assist, or ELC. If you remove the system you will need to air the struts manually, or replace the rear springs.
