Default 93 park ave. ultra trunk pull down not working

This morning I found the trunk lid had not pulled down. Checked pull down motor and it was very hot. I disconnected the electrical and pulled it out. All gears OK. Motor runs freely when pull down rod and gear are removed. It appears that the motor is running in one direction only. Do the limit switches fail or is there a reversing relay located somewhere that needs replacement.

on my 87 the only thing thats ever happened is sometimes it would get confused if the battery was dead. but if you open the trunk and reconnect the battery it wold always start working again.

Just a follow up. I went to the bone yard and found a trunk pull down from a 93 Buick Rivera. Same exact unit. cleaned it up and installed the complete unit in my car. Works like a charm. The Black Pull down switch that is pluged into the top of the motor was the calprit . Broken side limit switch actuator.arm. Next time I go to the junk yard I'm going to look for just the switch so that I have a complete back up unit.
