Default 2005 Buick Terraza CXL possible trans problem

Vehicle has intermittent times where it feels like the transmission becomes disengaged when stopping then suddenly engaging a half second or so after mashing down on the accelerator. It has been doing this for about two years and will do it several times over the course of a few days then totally stop for a few days up to maybe a month then repeat the cycle.

Has the vehicle had regular maintenance on the tranny?

Check fluid color, smell, and level?

Scanned for codes?
