I finally replaced the CPS on this '88 2.8 L Regal Custom today. That seems to have fixed the hard start problem. After a dozen cold and hot restarts, it appears to start normally now. No visible problems on the old CPS, which really has very few miles on it. It came from AutoZone. The new replacement came from Advance.

Out of all of the parts I purchased, the dealer only had 1 fuel line. So, I had to load up on the store brand stuff - except for the Delphi Fuel Pump from Advance.
I'm finished with AutoZone. Out of the hundreds of dollars spent on-line, they cheated me out of my rewards. I calculated my purchases and entered my member number to get the credits for my rewards, each time. They never gave me the credits. I called and they gave me that run-around. I told them I was finished with them. They made an attempt to satisfy me without actually helping. They offered points without giving me the rewards. I'm finished. The failed part is after the fact. Goodbye forever AZ.

I also learned to buy starters, solenoids, and alternators at NAPA. The stuff from Advance didn't even work out of the box. I bought new, not recons - still no go.
