Success found 1 wire inside the wiring harness about 2 feet from the switch cut but like at a 7 0r 8 o'clock position I think 2 wires were dead
now how the hell do wires get like this???? I was going to just replace the 2 wires but went to a yard and got a harness from a century pulled the pins out and put in the connections
I should have said old switch only 1 gear would display
so I got new switch to put in and then before I put it in the transmission started
acting up so after 2 months dealing with it had the trans rebuilt (by a shop I have known for 30 years}
so I just let them put it on then we had the problem stated
Yea I wonder if some idiot played smash the wiring harness putting the transmission back in must have caught part of the harness on the edge but this thing at that point is
like 1 1/2 fat there
I don't know any other way it could have happen
I was real Leary of letting some one even to pull out the transmission
I cant rebuild a auto but I sure could have pulled it out and put it in
I can build race cars and build motors that run on crower injectors running on straight
alcohol with a Mallory super mag 2
but never went to automatic transmission school
Now I wish I had replaced the switch before it went there
I guess some other shop could have done it {but what'* the odds}

I guess the only one that will do things right is do it your self
everyone other don't care or want to rush it back together asap
and rush off to next job
Only thing worse now a days is poor quality auto parts
I sold them for 10 years and you could tell good parts
with brand names
Now everything is Duralast or Valuecraft or Master brand
guess what open the boxes they all have same part numbers stamped
on them
Yea Duralast has life time warranty and cost 2 as much as Valuecraft
but your not getting a better part same cheep china junk
when you can but 2 inner and 2 outer tierod ends off ebay {same numbers on parts}
for $24.00 for all 4 with free shipping what did they pay for them $3.00 dollars????

good to hear. thats what i would guess too, the alot of the techs work on flat rate or rate per job and get in a hurry, so they dont care about your car just about getting it done so they can move on to the next one
