Default Need some tech advice

1) If my DIC is correct, my oil life is dropping fast. I started out a week and 1/2 ago at 97%; I'm already down to 93%. At this rate, that first oil change is gonna come up quick...

Is this normal? This car did sit for a long time on the lot (State safety inspection was dated 3/15/05; I bought the car new 4/15/06 with only 45 mi. total); could this be why the oil'* wearing out so quick?

2) In addition to gettin' jiggly with it, my HUD disagrees with my speedometer; HUD'* 1-2 mph higher than the speedo. Can this be fixed with a computer reprogram/reflash, or is something else wrong? Or is this normal?

Willwren, I hope you read this...I want to ask if you can send me the text of the jiggly HUD fix that you used to help that other member (sorry, I can't remember the gent'* name at the moment...).

This car'* like MacDonald'*; I'm lovin' it!

the HUD being 1-2mph off is normal for all cars that I have been in with a HUD.

I would trust the OLM. they factor a LOT of things into that equation. If the car is new, it could make sense.

I cant answer any of your other questions.

Congrats on your new GXP man.
4% in 10 days isn't bad. thats a 25th of your oil life...so 25x 10 days =250 days. And it'* set high by GM. Should still change every 3 months.

I was worried about stagnant oil also and put 500 "breakin miles" and took to dealer and swapped out for synthetic. The N* is an extremely tight engine and you might notice a little smoke when ya start up. Mine really opened up at about 700-800 miles.
Also the N* losses between 1/2 to full quart between changes so keep it monitered.

The N* PCM is Locked and unflashable.

Like corvette crazy mentioned, most HUD'* I've seen can be off a mile or two. quite a few GXP'* it seems have a vibration problem. Fixing it is a dealer item and covered by your warranty. And I think your aware that if you pull the dash apart to get at it, you'll likely void that warranty.

Will gets around to everything. He'* a very easy going acessable person, and doesnt mind you PM'ing him. And if ya get to be a pain 'he'll tell ya
all cars have design flaws , and ours is certainly no execption but most of us love them anyways

marauder307, what you really need to find out is if we can add the GP or even the buick Rendezvous HUD to our cars. The images and the clarity of those put ours to shame. They even have stealth mode. (at night turns off all dash lights and leaves just the HUD on)....looks cool.

LOL, Shadow. Poor guys just got the car and you want him to gut his dash and do a conversion. I'm sure you'll get a lecture from dealer about dont touch nothin or void warranty. And I've gotten my share of same lecture. They cant void for nitrous in NY because of statue in Lemon Law ( till it actually does harm), but I'm bettin the air ride is really gona **** em off. There is a member here had that happen just for a sub woofer setup.

I dont think that conversion can be done without all the parts, not just the Hud. Remember the PCM is locked. And doubt if its programmed for a GP HUD application.

Well I quess ya got me there Shadow Back to Marauders thread, I havent found the top mileage for the oil monitor for the GXP yet. On the Caddys the LD8 was set at 12,000 miles, then backed off to 9000.

I gotta call Mr.GoodWretch and bitch about where the hell my fog lamp harnees is and I'll ask him. Marauder, thats something else You'll need to get taken care of. The fog lamp harnesses were made with tom thin a wire and they blow fog lamps prematurely and even short out. The TSB # is in top thread.

LOL Shadow...you beat me to it man! Swapping HUDs with a GP GXP unit is the first mod I've been considering...wondering if I can find a wrecked GP somewhere and swipe the parts.

GXP Rules, I've been thinking about that foglight TSB. At the present, my fogs seem to be okay; I do about 50% of my commuting after dark (work a second shift at the office). I've decided to go ahead and live with the setup until my first routine maint. interval (i.e. the oil change) and handle it then. It ain't broke, I don't want to try and fix it...at least, not just yet.

The only reason it concerns me is the battery is all the way in back seat and if you look at the harnesses back there, it'* easy to see why troubles have started. I have never seen such small gauge wiring in any other car. Incredibily cheap.

And as I add all these electric and electronic goodies it concerns me. I'm running everthing i add directly to battery with circuit breakers.

These harnesse ARE smoking and they run the same pathways as alot of other wires. Even properly engineered wiring can fail when running against other hot wires so you risk the danger of harming other systems not fixing now.
