I wish you and your wife all the best in getting through this and am glad she escaped serious injury. Count your blessings... Also, good luck in getting a good settlement from the other party'* insurance - and make sure you get more than just what will cover the damage to or loss of your vehicle.

On another note, if your GXP is determined to be totaled - I know of two 2005 GXP in the Greystone color that are still new at dealerships. One has every available option you can get just as my car does and it is in West Virginia as I recall and can be had for a terrific price if they still have it as I negotiated a price on it just in case I was unable to get my car. The other one that I know of right off hand is in Houston, TX. I actually had the car for a weekend and it enabled me to decide that I indeed wanted to buy a Bonneville GXP. Only problem, it does not have the HUD or the Trunk Emergency Kit. Also, the dealership changed out the wheels for some chrome 18'* that are not the best design and they said they no longer had the stock wheels. The aftermarket tires on it were pretty nice though. They of course gave me a couple prices in trying to get me to take it, but I didn't even try to negotiate as I really wanted the HUD and the White Gold Tricoat. So I am sure that it could be had for a great price as well and the sales manager seemed like a pretty good guy who was more than ready to sell the car.

Let me know if you want the details and I will get them to you. Good luck with everything!

If its deemed totally call it a blessing. Please post what they do give you for the car. imho I would not buy another GXP or at least not a brand new one. They take too much of a nose dive in value to be worth it.

The dealer I bought my GXP from last July still has an unsold black Bonneville GXP for sale. They have 31k listed on the windshield, but I wouldn't buy it for more than 27k. It has all of the options, but it is black, which is so hard to take care of and shows every little bit of dirt and defects.

Friday, the car was towed to my friend who has his own body shop. We were looking at the part prices. The front facia is $524. Since the roof is buckled, my friend thinks he will have to replace the moon roof frame inside the roof. That lists for $1000! The adjuster from Erie (my insurance company) put a $7600 estimate for the damages. My friend says that isn't even close. The adjuster from GMAC (the insurance co. of guy who hit my wife) hasn't looked at the car yet, but probably will Monday. My friend thinks that the car is very close to a "total". We'll have to see.

Both my wife and I thank you for your kinds words and concern during this time. It does help alot!

I would like to post the pictures of the car, but I cannot figure out how to post them on the forum. I don't have a site to post them to.

Glad to hear back from you.
Best of luck on getting the car totalled out. You may want to tell them that you have no reason to keep a car that had future collectable possibility and now with a salvage title any hope of that has pretty much been washed away.

You may also want to see if your dealer can get a GXP of a different color as there are still quite a few NEW GXP'* sitting at dealers around the country, and possibly more quite near to you.
To look for more near you check www.autotrader.com -I was just looking at new GXP'* on there last weekend and there'* a solid 25 listed on there alone.

For a site to host pictures try www.photobucket.com -it'* really easy and it'* free, plus it will host better resolution pics than www.cardomain.com which is free and fairly easy to use also.

Uh it wont have a salvage title unless the insurance company deems it a total loss... :?

I talked to my friend who owns the body shop where my Bonneville was taken. He said that the frame shop (which has a laser frame rack), would not even touch my car because of the roof damage. He said that the car being hit in the cowl shifted the whole unibody, and that the upper and lower frame rails are bent, and maybe the floor pan. He thinks that it would be almost impossible to get the car "right" again.

The GMAC adjuster is supposed to look at the car today (finally). I hope he sees it that way too. I don't want them to attempt to fix a car that can't be fixed. I also hope that we don't get into fight over totalling the car. I'll keep you all informed on what happens next.

That is a shame - but may be for the best - as it does sound as though your GXP will be totalled. But don't shy away from another GXP if you would like another one because of the depreciation as the dealers are taking care of that upfront with the huge discounts available. I saw up to $12,000 off when looking form my GXP just a month ago. That definitely offsets the loss in value due to the car being a 2005 model that has been discontinued. Not too much out there that you can buy that offers so much car for that kind of price.
