Jag XJR vs. GXP
Listen up everyone. I see a real problem here. I emailed Pontiac almost a year ago and recommended putting a supercharger combined with the Northstar in the Bonnie. I told them that every Pontiac owner would trade in whatever they had to own it. But with the current gas mileage rating, that idea would be scary for the price at the pump. A supercharged Jag with 390hp weighing over 3900lbs averages 18/28 vs GXP'* 17/24. I know! There is a huge difference in price (35Gs) but COME ON GUYS! Achieving a more competitive gas mileage rating shouldn't be asking too much for a $35G+ price tag! 17/24 with a supercharged GXP would be more understandable. I could definitely live with that because of the extra testosterone boost in torque and horsepower. Maybe it is just me, but what do you all think? I want better gas mileage like the SSEI with the V8 and I want a supercharged package to be offered. That would warrant my SSEI going back home to the Pontiac lot. A supercharged engine is able to provide acceleration with less agressive gearing and thus run at lower rpms at a given speed. Hence, it has the the potential to be more efficient. You are also more likely to drive at lower rpm and throttle - due to massive available torque. A lot of guys who put a smaller pulley on their L67 car (SSEi/GTP) experience a similar increase in gas mileage - if they can stay out of the boost

A supercharged Northstar Bonneville that'* FWD may have insane torque steer issues. Plus I doubt a 4L80-E can hold such output levels at OEM standards of duarability. If muscle is what you want, then go up the price ladder as such: a mid to upper $3x k 300C, then $50k CTS-v, then STS-v, then E55 AMG.
If you like to stick with FWD traction (avoiding RWD snow woes and AWD friction/service costs), then go: Acura TSX, Acura TL, Bonneville GXP

Personally, if I had my choice, I would choose the Jaguar. My absolute dream car is the Jaguar XKR100 convertible. My neighbor has one -- among a Hummer H2, 1955 Thunderbird conv., and a 1965 GTO conv.
