i wouldnt mind seeing them on used car lots, that means that i can get one, But i have to agree with you I like to keep my cars untill the wheels fall off too, so resale is not important to me, but i like to find good deals on used bonnes

I wouldn't consider buying a vehicle an investment of any sort. All cars lose their value as soon as you drive it off the lot. No matter what, you're going to lose money.

That said, yeah, the resale value is pretty bad.

I wonder......what will the '05 GTO be worth in 3 or 5 years.... can anyone say "400 horespower for $19,400!" My new garage (in near future)

05 GTO-400 Hp
04 GXP-275
New car performance at used car prices-priceless!
That said, im glad they made a real performance car, and not some badge engineered paper GT . I shudder to think of what would happen if this car came out in the early 90'*! The same with the GTO, for that matter. Looks like Lutz is earning his pay.

Just try that trick with a domestic car made in the last decade. I know its likely a little off-topic, but does anyone KNOW about the fate of the Bonneville after 2005-rumors, internal press statements, and general gossip and innuendo need not apply. Supposedly the Bonneville is out of business after '05 I guess I'll have to get my GXP used after all.

Isn't the Northstar in the Bonne detuned to 275 HP? If they wanted more HP in it they could do it now without a huffer. I think the rest of the drivetrain comes into question with a blower added. I know, I know, someone out there right now is running 400 plus HP in one or two right? Lets wait and see how long they do it without upgrading the rest of the drivetrain by choice or force before we final judge it. With all the problems I have had with our GXP I would never recommend a GXP to anyone.

As far as feul economy goes, ours has 20k on it and has never seen a tank run 17mpg on it and that is with my wife driving with the kids in it. She'* no hotrod. I still think the calipers are dragging but what the hell do I know. By 17k they turned all the rotors and put new pads on the front. 1=1 doesn't =2 at my dealership.

Oye that'* some bad milage...

There are times i wonder why GM made the N* at all. Yes it has all the tech features, all the buzz words, and it'* smooth, But the LS1 is cheaper, lighter, makes more power, and uses less gas. If the aftermarket ever took off for them, we might have a different situation. Ford'* DOHC 4.6L makes more power too. There is a need for a premium V8 yes, but it should outperform the "plain jane" v8. I would prefer the 'rora 4.0 with some updates over the larger 4.9'* etc.

The LS1 actually has the highest BSFC rating of any production engine ever. It makes the most HP per gasoline used. There are VERY few engines (race/prototype) that make more power per lb/h of gas, you can probably count then on one hand.

/rant.

Acura-excuse me, Honda- makes and engine in its new RL that makes 300 horsepower, gets SULEV ratings, and makes more torque-FROM A 3 SOMETING LITER V6!There is no reason why a 4.6L v8 can't at least make more power than that 6 cylinder, to say nothing about fuel economy. That said, a N* is a good engine, just not as good as it should be. :?
