I just got back from the dealer and they replaced the shaft with new design boot and the work order copy they gave me said replaced shaft as per bulletin but didnt have the no. for the bulletin and the guy said this was a different shaft from the one they replaced over a year ago so this is the second one.So you guys might want to say yours is clunking so they replace it under your warrenty if you still have under 36,000 miles or 3 years.I was worried about them changing it which they said they would because it quit clunking this weekend but. they didnt even check it and just drove it in and replaced it from what I had discussed over the phone about it clunking and there was a bulletin on it to replace with new style shaft so you might want to tell them it clunks off and on so they replace it.Hopefully this will cure it and never need to be greased since he said this new style boot wont leak grease out..Does anyone know if this shaft is inside car or outside or both because I seen the guy working under my dash? Thanks

It should be like my Impala, and it is about half in and half out of the firewall.

Just curious if anyone knows if the other SE-SLE 04-05 Bonnevlles have this same trouble and how about the older Bonnevilles from 2003- 2000?I would think they take the same shaft but maybe not since they have the smaller V6 motor and maybe have a different angle on the shaft
