GXP mpg
Hmmm... What does an imperial gallon of gas sell for? I paid 2.07 today at Chevron for regular. By the way, my 4" lifted, 285 hp, 33x12.50x16 tired 4x4 with 67,000 miles on it got 13 MPG on the same gas the Bonne gets 15 on. That is down from when it was new I might add. It'* odd to me the Bonne needs to be broken in and the truck didn't. Tell me I can't beat a dead horse will ya.......
My mileage has started to drop somewhat again. It'* about 16-17 mpg in the city. Here'* another strange thing about the Germans. In the city, the speed limit is 50 kph. That is about 31-32 mph! It is so slow that I get frustrated and whip around people. I know I will get a ticket soon if I haven't already. They don't stop you here. They take your photo and send you a bill in the mail. But getting back to that speed. 31-32 mph doesn't let the GXP get inot a good gear for getting the best mileage. There are very few turning lanes in the city here which means you may get behind someone making a left turn and you either have to wait or whip around then when you can. I prefer the whip around naturally which means I mash the throttle and kill my mpg average. They also have very, very few right turns on red which drives me crazy too. So the light turns green, you go to make a right turn and now you have to wait for the pedestrians to cross. They are very anal on this right turn on red issue. Germans are also very disciplined drivers. Rarely does anyone ever go 1-2 mph above the speed limit. Even the Porsche Cayennes and big BMW'* and Benz'* drive within the limits. I try to get one to race for fun and they do......to 32 mph and they stop. You see, their licenses are good for life and their points for tickets mean big trouble. They never get wiped from your record! And getting a license costs upwards of $2000 with drivers training which is a comprehensive affair. Their driving schools have you drive at night, in traffic, on the autobahn, in rain, in the country, etc. You have to complete something like 500 miles in all of these catagories before you take your driving test. And parallel parking? By the time you are done you will always get it right the first time. Parking is a huge deal over here with the restricted space. Oh, and it is forbidden to pass on the right unless you are under the speed limit. Passing is always done on the left, PERIOD. I definitely need to lighten up on the throttle though. Sorry for the ramble but driving this car over here is a unique experience that I thoroughly enjoy even with the weird German road rules.

I would think that car should be capable of pulling off decent highway economy numbers for a V8 car. Don't the Northstar'* cut back to 4 cyclinders on the highway to concerve fuel? Otherwise the poor things would be seeing like 20 on the highway I'd think.

I saw 36.7 mpg this summer on a road trip as Scottydl mentioned and GM has yet to perfect that 4 cyl shutdown...at least its not ready yet. We do have limp home mode but thats a safety feature.
17 mpg highway I tend not to believe, you get 4000 lbs moving at 75 mph and you dont even have to touch the pedal. I need a DIC pic of 17 mpg hwy or at least a better explanation as to driving style. :?
