Marauder it could be the tech just wrote down the wrong code on the service document but who knows. Yes some dealers can be devious. Especially when they now have to prove antything and everything to get a dime out of GM. And the dealers have no one to blame but themselves. Padding service invoices, I feel forced GM into it'* stance. As for the probe short, that could very well have done damage to The computer. I have left the small out of town dealer that sells for less behind and much happier with the larger "combo" dealer closer to me that sells and services Cadillacs routinely as well as other GM brands. I hope you let the GM rep know that you seen the short occur. Keep your game face on, get to another Dealer, and try for some "extra". I kbow of one member and I think one other who were offered extended warranties for the bad service problems they had.

Marauder, I did not do anything else special other than what was mentioned before. I have been continuing to reset each day with no problems, although each time I push the button wonder if it will reset.

All I could suggest would be to do what I did, which is to use the reset button for driver settings, and try pushing quickly multiple times. But who knows if that had anything to do with it. Maybe it'* a ghost in the machine.

Good luck with yours. No doubt I will not bring mine in unless absolutely necessary, I’d rather avoid having some idiot jacking with my car whenever possible, although I realize that is what the warrantee is for. I’m not used to this, I’ve never had a car under warrantee, and except for paint and transmission rebuilds, I did everything myself.

Mine worked fine in my car but I didnt reset it nearly as many times as you guy do. Does this problem just effect GXPs?

I think we’ve just been hi-jacked folks. I listed my performance mods for the bird below, and I guess it is a lot. Not to mention MANY hours of tuning because at the time, I was running the stock computer, and using methanol/water to suppress detonation and provide extra fuel under high boost. I used an LM1 wideband to monitor and datalog the a/f.

But on the flip side, this car was my main transportation, was loaded with a/c, power everything, etc. and got the same gas mileage as stock - 18 in town, 27 highway. And that is driving it hard in both cases. I drove 100+ miles each way to / from the track the day I ran the 13.65, and did nothing when I got to the track other than let it cool. The methanol / water mix allows 28psi on pump gas with no detonation.

I’ll also mention how absolutely inconsistent the car was on radials. I made 7 passes that day: 2 in the 13s, 2 in the 14s, and 3 I just gave up and shut down. If you either bog it or blow away the tires, you are looking at a 16 sec pass.

T3/T4 hybrid Ball-Bearing turbo, .48 ex / 50 trim compressor, 28psi
Aux Alcohol injection via progressive Snowperformance controller
Fan added to stock intercooler
K/N cone in fender
Ranger pickup cam and adjustable cam gear
Forge Bypass valve
ATR Downpipe connected to full 3” single exhaust w/Walker Cat and 3” DynoMax Super Turbo muffler
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump
Mopar Super 60 injectors
Kirban adjustable FPR
Aluminum Driveshaft
Underdrive Pulley
Gutted upper intake manifold
Mild home porting on lower intake, head, and stock exhaust manifold
Star Stage 3 clutch

I’ve done a few additional mods since the 13.65, and I believe with sticky tires I might be able to get a 12. It’* currently running like crap and I can’t figure out why. When the weather cools I’ll see if the engine is ok and what is wrong.

Got the car in there Thursday...still broke.

But I think they've made some effort to get it fixed. They claim the switch panel has a short in it (the button panel on the dash); they've got a replacement part on back-order....claiming a 7-10 working day delivery time.

We shall see.

Finally.....geezis.

Got it fixed today. It took replacing the switch panel (the internal part, not the plastic trim
dash piece) to get it functioning again.

Case closed...but @!#$!@#$, what a freakin' hassle...
