Default 2004 gxp surge tank/coolant system

So I have been trying to find my coolant leak and heat issues for two weeks plus.

I finally found the leak guys, the black plactic adapter that connects the heater core hose to the surge tank was spraying coolant when the engine was hot.

With no effort at all I was able to remove this piece from the surge tank.

What is supposed to hold it onto the surge tank?

I removed it and connected the hose directly to the surge tank, drove it and as soon as I parked it I heard a hissing noise, and poof steam from hell.

The hose had been blown off the surge tank and over a gallon of coolant was lost.

What am I doing wrong here?

I'll try to check my service manual when I get home. There'* a few GXP owners here, perhaps one of them can chime in before then.

It'* just on there on mine? I wonder if your Radiator cap is going bad and letting enough pressure out to blow it off?
