id be looking for a better set of speakers that take closer to 50 or 100 watts rms... spend a little nmore money, and buy an amp for them and it will round out the stereo... I would never go with low end speakers with subs...

I'm hard pressed to call those speaker "low end". Memphis makes some of the best stuff you can get, and those are good speakers. the 6x9'* take 60 watts RMS...the 4x6'*, you really can't get them that take a lot.

I'm looking for speakers to top off this:
Amp : MTX Thunder 3401 - 400 watts RMS
Sub: Kicker L5 - 450 watts rms
Head unit: Panasonic CQ-7301U

the 4x6 wont work for you, you need a 5.25 and a component tweeter if possible

Do you think the 6x9 memphis rears will work okay, though?

buy a component set... Polks are decent, Infinity are ok.. My personal favorite are boston acoustics...

if i were you id go to the local shops and listen to what they have and decide based on what you like the sound of.. every brand and every model has its own sound and characteristics.. spend a little more cash, you wont regret it

that would be fine.. the rear isnt nearly as important as the front.. the rear speakers are justy there to fill in the sound a little bit

Toast, if I can afford it I'll get these. How much harder is it to hook up component stuff? I have $174 in my paypal account to use towards front speakers on ebay. All of the MMC5250 polks are literally $4 out of my price range...dammit!
