With the deep cycle battery your alt. will keep on recharging the battery since it will think it needs to. So you will wear out your alt. faster.

Paul, I could take some close up pics of the wiring if you'd like. And thanks, I know I'm a little sick. 
I'm using the cross overs from my MB Quart QSD216 components. There on the left side underneith the 450/4 amp.
Actually I have a big stereo problem right now read my new topic.
