Default Subwoofer Box

I am thinking about building a good Subwoofer Enclosur for my hopefuly soon to be two subs. I want it to kinda look like these:

Questions:
What to make it out of?
What size?
Do i seal the box tight shut or do i have a hole anywere? ( i know holes for speaker wires but other then that)

thanks

3/4" MDF

size will depend on what subs you are going to use

it would be sealed unless you want a ported box in which case it is more than just a "hole"

A ported box has a "tunnel" instead of just a hole. Brad built mine (in the picture you posted). It isn't ported and sounds great! Since you haven't done this before I wouldn't port it, or at least learn how to do it. Sealing the box with silicone in the joints will help keep it nice and air tight.

There is a formula for how many cubic feet for each enclosure. I don't know it though. But it depends on how wide you make it as well as the other dimensions. 36" wide by 15" tall is a good start. 36" is the widest you can go in our trunks, and it fits nice and tight and will not move. I have 2 12s and I believe there is 1.5 cubic feet behind each sub. My box is pretty deep compared to Jim, who has two 10s. His box is only 5-6 inches deep whereas mine is more like 13 or 14".

depends on the specific sub.... some 10" subs require more than others....get a brand and model number.
