Default Subs dont perform well

Hi, my friend is a dealer for PYLE audio car speakers, subs, and DJ equipment. I bought my sub, amp, and wires from him. Its his bussiness, he buys and sells for more money on ebay. Anyways since these are off brand speakers, i am wondering about their quality. They sound nice but no where near as much bass as other people i know, plus i have almost, that is almost half a centimeter of excursion. Whats wrong? They are 400 watts each ran by a 1000 watt amp. 4 guage wire, nice Pioneer DEH-2600 HU. We installed it at his house, he hooked up amp to subs while i ran the wires and drilled through car. Could he have screwed up some wires? or wired it wrong? Because im looking at videos on the internet and most subs get 1-2 inches of excursion and im not even getting a centimeter. Also, a lot of music is comming out of the sub, i mean voices and guitars and rythems and stuff like that. Other peoples subs have almost nothing but bass that comes out of their subs.

i hope you got that stuff for free

no way will that amp put out 1000W

what you want to do is play with your settings on the amp. like the gain and the crossover. have your friend help you out with that one

do a search on setting up your amp

i think i fixed the problem
I pulled them out from the back of my trunk and looked at the amp, there is a switch for LPH and and some other letters like that. What it does is switch the amp to 6inch or 6X9 type speaker mode, sub mode, and both. Well,,,,, my switch was at 6X9 mode, therefore it was giving a lot of bass or Low frequency bass. Now that i have switched it it is MUCH MUCH LOUDER AND DEEPER!!!!!!!! I havent been able to turn it up past volume number 6 since parents bedroom is right above garage and its 11 o clock at night. This is sweet, i felt that really low bass that you cannot hear, only feel. Wow thats a cool feeling.

Also make sure they're not out of phase, that can reduce sound output HUGE. ie red ->red, black ->black for all connections.
