I have a 1989 Bonneville with the cassette player with the steering wheel radio controls. My question is can i swap in a newer stereo out of a bonneville or something with a cd player and still keep my steering wheel controls. My last resort would be a CD changer but i'd much rather keep everything as simple as possible. Any suggestions anyone and where could I get me a new stereo also.
Yo Eg!
I have a 1990 SSE. I replaced my stereo with a Pioneer GM fit style. Cost me $100 on Ebay. I also bought a PAC steering Wheel control interface from http://www.clubgpstore.com/itemview.asp?itemid=16 followed the directions and it works great. Plus I get better sound.

Like the others suggested, there are aftermarket options. I used to have an FM modulated CD changer in my 89 Bonne. Not as easy as swapping out one radio for another, but not too bad. Sounded pretty good. I've also seen the aftermarket radios with the steering wheel control adapter that will work in the 88-91 Bonnys.

Just do a search on CD changers. There'* a ton of them out there, from 100 bucks on up. They have a remote paddle. You just tune your stereo to whatever FM station they're set up for (you usually have a choice of 2 stations to preset) and MAGIC! CD sound thru the FM band. You can even get these things at Walmart!
