Default Stereo display burn-out...anyone had this?

Our 2000'* stereo had the left 1/2 of the display go dark...you can still see it at night but not during the daytime. Is there an illuminator bulb that may be burned out or is it strictly an LCD display?
Thanks.

My 96s station display was out when I bought the car. It was an AM/FM/Cassette, so I was going to put in an aftermarket CD deck anyways. I think this was a very common problem

Yes, I had my radio'* display just suddenly die out on me. I put up with it for a while, and then eventually bought an aftermarket unit -- also with red lighting, of course. It'* in my parents' basement somewhere.

Mine has the same problem. I'm going back and forth weather to replace the bulbs or just get an aftermarket replacement.
