Default Steering Wheel Controled CD Player?

Has anyone tried to use a later model GM cd player with the 1990 steering wheel controls? (the 1990 player is too expensive when it can be found). I've heard that there are 4 different versions of steering wheel controls and they won't interchange. My other idea is to use a later model steering column with controls along with the player. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Rick

Rick,

Get a Pioneer or Alpine GM fit and an adapter from PAC (P/N swi-x). The sound will be better and you can configure the buttons and way you want.

That'* probably the best bet, but make sure the aftermarket HU has an IR remote. It'* required for the SWI-X to work.
