Steering Wheel Controled CD Player?

Has anyone tried to use a later model GM cd player with the 1990 steering wheel controls? (the 1990 player is too expensive when it can be found). I've heard that there are 4 different versions of steering wheel controls and they won't interchange. My other idea is to use a later model steering column with controls along with the player. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Rick

Rick,

Get a Pioneer or Alpine GM fit and an adapter from PAC (P/N swi-x). The sound will be better and you can configure the buttons and way you want.

That's probably the best bet, but make sure the aftermarket HU has an IR remote. It's required for the SWI-X to work.
