Default Replacing HU while keeping steering wheel controls

I'm currently in the process of buying and replacing the factory HU in my 2001 SLE. I read that there is an adapter I can use to keep the steering wheel controls. Where can I buy this adapter at? Also, I read that OnStar is hooked up with the factory radio. Is there an adapter for this? Are there any other issues I have to consider when replacing my old HU? Thanks.

for steering controls you need a swi-x...something like this http://www.crutchfield.com/*-dP8TCFC....asp?i=127SWIX but its only compatible if you have a headunit with a remote because it translates the button and puts out a signal to the head unit to follow the controls through infered signal and it learns the signal from your remote like a universal remote. you can find it other places cheaper just look around online.

Thanks Plurr. I'll google it to see if I can find it cheaper. Any ideas about OnStar or if its even integrated with the radio?
