those are a pair of 6x9'* i have sittin around, practically new yet.. anyways i am kinda thinking i want to swap out my stock rear 6x9'* with these is there any advantage or would it still sound the same? i am looking for an upgrade in quality with bass and clearness in general. I have a 2000 sle.. any thoughts on this?

yes it will definetly sound different. better in many ways...
first you would get a lil volume increase that you will notice, second you will get a better stock bass sound with out distortion, and third you will get better high'* and also clear with no craking.... i would also get a pair of 5 1/4 for the front doors...

The 2000 SLE is standard with the Bose system as I recall. The Bose speakers are 2 ohm. If you are replacing them with 4 ohm speaker then you will have LESS volume, not more.

Also, the rear speakers are not the place you are concerned about crisp highs. The rears should only be contributing lows and midrange (although different people set up their system differently). Rear speakers are intended to fill in the rear to provide a three dimensional sound (as in a concert hall), most of the real music is in front. The rears are at a relatively low volume. Otherwise it will sound like the band is behind you.

In general though, OEM speakers are not usually that great (when compared to what is available after market).

Don't go too big with the rear speakers like I have done. I put the biggest Pioneer 6x9'* in and the Bose amp can't power them... I lost my rear fill, now I'm workin on getting an amp in to power the rear 6x9'* and the front 6.5". You don't have 5.25" in the front door, only the back door if you have the 8 speaker system. 6.5" is the front doors.

i was thinking of the 5.25 speakers on the front doors on my 95 se.

and i dont see why the stock amp wont power them...

my 88 sse stock radio is powering a pair of 8'' beyma in the back rear deck and a pair of memphis 6.5'' 3 way speakers in the front doors..

it screams loud and crystal clear, it never shut off at all in the 6 months i been playing and blasting it.... so in my opinion i dont think its normal for your stock bose amp to not power you alpine 6x9'*. its un heard of...

if you buy those please get an aftermarket amp to power them it would be a shame to waste them by not providing enough power but like everyone else said I would use the rear for fill and front for mids and highs.

its not just power you have to consider. yeah, you can get your 6x9'* and your 8" pretty loud with just the stock amp, but an aftermarket amp also ads clarity. it sounds much better running the same speakers at 75% power with an aftermarket amp then 100% with the stock amp.
