well not exactly scrolling text, but it tells me the name of all my mp3'* no matter how big the name is...so it scrolls through that, but not the lyrics text

There are so many recievers out there and so many of them sound alike and have great audio quality, that what you need to do is determine your features.

Do you want MP3? Changer? Scrolling text? Find those models, pick your favorite brand, and then go solely by looks (colors, layout, fold down screen, etc).

I can't stress enough, pick the looks you want, that'll match your car or whatever you're trying to acomplish. There aren't enough differences between units to pick something that will only sound better in a sound-proofed test lab.

LOOKS LOOKS LOOKS. I've never had anyone I've installed tell me they'd do it different the 2nd time around.

I'd discourage a harddrive reciever, mainly because you can get a nice reciever for under 200, and then get an external unit for well under 400. That beats paying 800 plus, and not having the ability to efficiently fill it with MP3'*.

clarions been having some quality problems the last few years, they make a good headunit, but a tad overpriced

ive got a panasonic cdx 901u, and it rocks. built in dsp, motorized faceplate/tweeter. the tweeter is actually really cool, i set it at -4. you cant really hear it, but it helps imaging so that you really cant tell where the sound is comming from (as much) thing has a TON of features. but im replacing it with a pioneer p7300dvd that i got a good deal on. panasonic is nice, but doesn't have a little somthing called 7" motorized screen w/dvd player lol.

one thing i dont like about panasonic, is everything is blue. my brother has a panasonic deck, i think the one pictured earlier. its a awesome deck, really good price for its features, but its blue, to bad they don't make it changeable so you can change it to the green/red that cars use, that would be cool. its funny, even panasonic tv'* have a blue tinted picture!
