You could also go to a boneyard and grab an OEM radio from another '90s Pontiac just to eliminate that there'* a problem with the one you have. They generally run around $20 for one with a CD player, less for one with a cassette only. Installation takes about 10 minutes. Go for one with a graphic EQ if you can find it. The sound will be much better. Also, with an OEM head unit, you won't lose your steering wheel controls.
