which would explain why infinity always uses JBL amps in their installs for their show cars.

I'd say Infinity and JBL are the same quality most of the time too, home or mobile markets. Infinity is aimed more at a "sophisticated" crowd, and is marketed as a more upscale speaker. JBL is more aimed at college kids, and stuff. Infinity'* stuff is good, but it'* sometimes mistaken for cream of the crop in home audio, (well that'* better then saying bose is good)....

OK here is a deffinate way u can decide which one is better. Look up the theile small peramiters of the speaker. Use the link that i gave u in this thread and put in all of the numbers that u have in the box software that is on that site. If u dont wann do that generally the one with the lower Fs which is the speakers natural free air resonant freaquency, will drop lower. Either way u have to have the thiele small peramiters to really know which is better

im not sure which would be better for u i dont know much about either sub. however i can tell u that if the wires are coming off of the cones, its probly from people pushing them too far, far enough to where it is damaging a lot more than that wire

From what i can see The infinities would be better because it has a longer excursion, in other words it moves further. check out each of the companies websites for this info. look for xmax. there are a lot of other things to consider but from what i can tell, they would be better.

ya the infinity reference series had a problem with lead wires shorting... my buddy use to have a set when he worked at audio king....he would have to solder the wires because they couldn't keep up fast enough in the warranty department.
