Default Opinions on Bazooka Subs

Anyone have an opinion on the Bazooka-type combined amp and sub "tube" units? The sales guy at Best Buy suggested a tube as a low cost way to pump up bass response. Then he sent me to Circuit City...because Best Buy doesn't carry tube-type subs. Very odd. The combined amp and sub concept is attractive...but does it work?

Yes the work! I used to have two 8" non powered and they pounded....there kinda old school now...but still work great....if you are going for one....go with the 10" powered.

Another cholce is the Infinity Basslink...that is self powered and available at CC too.

Ebay has them all the time also...

Keep in mind if you get a tube....best sound is if you have the woofer pointing toward the rear of the car...have it up close to one side just away from the tail light.

booooooo

you don't want one of those.

infinity basslink maybe....but even those i doubt you'd here inside the car.

i'd say the most common application for bass tubes are regular cab trucks to put behind the rear seats. when you actually have some room in the trunk, why not get a decent sized sub (10, 12, 15), in an appropriate box, with an appropriate amp. i would guess you'd be 100x more happy with the results

The basslink will have good volume, about the same of the stock stereo. Bazooka makes tubes that look like N20 for a reason... :?

A friend of mine bought one off ebay, it did'nt "pound" but it was great, cheap way to add a "dab" of bass to an otherwise over-bosed system. His car is very small (Mitsubishi 3000GT) so he does not have a lot of room to sacrifice for an enclosure...
