Kenwood 1000w - Page 2 - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

It probly wont be enough to completely power those subs, because kenwood overrates thier amps. but for the price, it is well worth it

You blew your amp!?

Yes, this Kenwood 1000W for $200 is a very good deal, and a good amp.
yes yes i did. i think. probably. it turns on then with a little thump of the subs it turns off again.

had to get rid of the cathode too. wasnt allowing the amp to turn on all the way or sumthin.
The only way that would happen is if something was loose, it only draws 5mA, which is essentially nothing. Put it back in and check all your connections.
it was deffinatley blown. i opened it up. ill show you pics of the nice black stain.

Ok the general consensus is GO FOR IT but what wattage should I look for to get the most out of my subs?

If you added another kenwood 400 watt amp, then you would be just about right

I've run 300W RMS into a pair of those Infin'* in my SSEi before, lets just say body panels were shaking seriously.... And I think you get just a bit more wattage from the Kenwood.

Side note:
Please please please!!! make sure the volume of that box is correct for those Infin'*, they are soooo sensitive to internal box volume. I adjusted a friend'* box that was just .1 cubic ft off, it TRIPLED the output and sound quality.

Was his box ported? Because that makes worlds of difference... Im going to build a sealed box. What is the recommended enclosure size? I dont have any of the paperwork for them. Im thinking 1.5 cu.ft?
