for the record the headlamp controls are controlled through the climate control module not the radio.

right, but its just the chimes... the auto lights and dome lights are controlled thru the climate control.. if you take the module out all the auto lights are all messed up.

and thats why you need the interface to keep the chime with a aftermarket HU

/\ all crap.

they will all function.. thats all i was saying game, chimes arent that useful anyway... 2000+ have auto on and off on the headlighs anyway.. and you shouldnt be leaving your keys in the ignition... lol

I hard wired my headunit in and it works just fine, i dont give 2 craps about the chimes myself..

how do you guys plan to keep the steering wheel controls, or aren't you? I think you'd have to tap into them directly at the steering column to keep them.. :?

I have the "dock and lock" radio, which I assume is what you mean. There isn't anything to plug in, you just pop the radio into the opening and it docks up. The interface does work perfectly for that, didn't have to cut into any factory wires. However finding the right antenna adapter has been a problem so far.

The big reason I got the interface was so I didn't have to cut into the factory harness. With the interface it just plugs in, and then you just hook it up to to headunit. Which makes it easy if I ever sell the car, then I can just put the old radio back in without too much hassle.

As a side note, the interface actually has a speaker on board that sounds the chimes, rather than through the speakers like the factory headunit.

hmmm i was told the same thing and the guy was ordering that harness from metra he said none of my chimes and sum other little things wouldnt work and that he would have to wire the factory headunit to the trunk of my car and cut up my wires and that if i ever wanted to put the factory headunit back in it would be impossible?
