Default factory swap problem

I swapped my broken 96 factory cd player for a 99 factory cd player w/ 7 band eq from a 99 grand am. The display worked fine in the grand am , but is quirky in the bonne. The display is jumbled at times and then not there at all, then I'll look and its just fine. The sound for all functions work perfectly, though. Are the not compatable? Or is something wrong with the display?

Sounds like something is wrong with the display. Unhook and rehook if you haven't. Maybe it'* a bad connection...but I really doubt it.

Yeah, I tried checking the connection but no luck. I was wondering if there was a problem because the grand am hd that little tape deck. Also would it have something to do with the ac controls.

I doublt AC or steering controls have anything to do with it.

the problem doesn't occur when you press other buttons does it.

sorry about the other post, but no it doesn't have anything to do with pressing the buttons it happens randomly without anybody doing anything. The reason I brought up the ac controls is that I saw somewhere in here that they control the dimming function.
