explain the 5 1/4 comopent system In our cars
Ok I understand that our cars have the 5 1/4 and the tweeter DUH!!. Now I am wondering how the tweeter gets its signal. The main Question does the Tweeter have a Factroy Crossover, to supply the tweeter with just the highs. I know that there is 2 wires coming out of the door, but it seemed that when i put in my 5 1/4'* it didnt matter what harness that I putthen in it sounded the same. the wiring oes up into the dask somewhere so there is no way to see how the wiring goes from the headunit to the front speakers
can someone help with the wiring diagram??
there will be a second question after there is an answer to this one

But the reason the tweeter does gets just the highs is because there is a bass-block on it.

When you unplug the factory tweeter, the capacitor (black plastic covered thing) comes off with the tweeter leads. Once the tweeter is unplugged, you can use either of the wires in the door for new speakers b/c they are the exact same. Like Custom88 said, you need a component speaker system that comes with a seperate tweeter, midrange, and crossover. OR if you have a crossover for the new tweeter, you can just wire it up the way the factory did, with the cap on the tweeter lead. Personally, you are better off buying a matched component set, and get rid of the factory speakers completely.
