Default electrical problems

My 92 Bonn seems to be having some electrical problems lately. One of the Cig lighter outlets is not working at all. I've checked the fuses but there'* nothing listed as to what powers the cig outlets. Honestly how can you tell if a fuse is blown in the car? And a the interior lights don't even come on when I open the door. What is going on here? While I'm at it here....The fan to blow in the A/C and heat into the car is rather weak and have never been able to cool the car down for the summer with the strength of this fan (not to mention the A/C doesn't seem to be too cool in the first place). Where can I get a fan to do the job? I'm burning up in my baby! [/b]

Most likely, the bad cigar lighter outlet has blown the fuse, and that circuit also serves the interior lights. I can't recall which fuse it is at the moment, but check the fusebox under your dash. If the '92 is like my '93, it is below the dash, to the left of the steering column, and swings down for easy access after you squeeze a couple of release clips together. (Get down and take a close look at it first and you'll see how it'* supposed to release.) Look for one labeled "ACC/CLK/LTR" or something like that. A '92 owner should be able to tell you for sure.

Your problem is probably not the blower motor but a combination of weak or non-functioning A/C combined with a dirty heater core and/or evaporator core that'* blocking the airflow. If you look at the TechInfo topics via the link at the top of this page you should find an article on how to clean the cores to improve the airflow. If your A/C compressor is cycling on and off but it'* not getting very cold, the system may need a recharge. If you have the electronic climate controls, and the temperature display blinks at you for the first two minutes after startup, there'* an error code stored in the climate control computer that you'll need to retrieve. (A low Freon warning is most likely what it'll be trying to tell you.)

I think the fuse for the interior lights is #15 on my '93 SSEi (I replaced it about a month ago). It'* in the panel on the driver'* side, near the hood release latch.
When my interior lights were out, I didn't check to see if the cigarette lighter was out too (non-smoker)... good luck.
