I think the moral of the information here is each DVD player might require something different. To just say add power or add ground to keep it functioning while the car is in gear is assuming the player you have.

Directions and wiring diagrams specific for your unit that you purchase is the way to hook it up or circumvent turning off when in gear.

well most of use that have it installed bypassed the feature so it will play whenever you want honestly who would hook it up that way?
mine Indash DVD player is the same way but mine is hooked up so i can watch movies whenever
