Default Cavalier CD unit question

Hey, guys, the backlighting is not working properly on my unit. Some of the lights that light up the 1-2, 4-5 buttons are not working. Is there a way to replace the bulb(*) in the unit, and, if so, how do I go about it? Any/all info is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The bulbs are the ones with the little "condoms," and are soldered to the board. Not very easily replaced.

Half the lights on my radio are out, and all of the ones on my HVAC controls are gone, so you're not alone being in darkness. lol

I guess that would depend upon if they were LED or normal mini-light bulbs.

Can you shoot a picture of the front of your radio? I might be able to figure something out.

More than likely, regular "bulb" style. I have no idea what they use for a part number for the bulbs. You would have to "Sears and Roebuck" it. IE compare them to other ones.

Or, replace the entire headunit with another factory unit or go non-OEM and tell the wife it needs it because "the system needs it".

I'm actually happy with this head unit at the current moment....in fact, it wasn't even in the vehicle when it was built...it had an AM/FM unit, no tape deck (UM6 was the option code, I believe). I think the front of my CD head unit pops off, if I'm not mistaken.

You're better off replacing it over trying to replace the bulbs. They are very small and frustrating if you're not good with electronics.

I agree with Travis. It'* not worth the effort to attempt replacing those bulbs.
