GM wire sucks.. Had same problem in my car, ran some nice new thicker wire straight to the battery for my constant "hot wire" and ran a nice new thick wire for ground.. Fixed my dimming problem completely...

Seeing your car is a 1990 when was the last time you changed your battery or possibly the alternator bc with a stock HU that shouldn't happen unless it'* levels ar maxed out

actually i just bought this car in the spring. ive only been driving it for the last month. so i really dont know the history of the car. ive noticed that the battery seem awfully small for a car like this. it has also been run down to nothing a few times so i think that the battery has had it. is there a way to check the alternator without taking anything apart? could i just check the voltage?
