(warped head, new car hunt) head gasket on 88 voyager (2.5L)
yes its blown, im getting extreme bubbles in my coolant, and its shooting the coolant out everywhere causing me to run completely dry on coolant causing it to overheat
this needs to be fixed asap...
the head gasket kit is under $50 at autozone... and i have the service manual
my dad doesnt think i should attempt it, for whatever reason... although he didnt think we could do the transmission without him either, and we succeeded...
how hard of a job is this? could i do it in a weekend? i have zero experience with head gaskets, but have ALL the basic tools, and lots of mechanical common sense
if you talk me out of it.. im gonna be looking for another beater

with all the room you have in the engine bay and how small the motor is I dont see how it can be that bad since its a 4 banger and all. Just a guess there..do you have the chiltons for it?

Andrew as long as you have the Torque specs and the timming( or how to set it ) you should be able to do it... SOHC 2.5 ... Those are some tough motors...
But iirc you should have an alluminum head, and if its warped in any manner it will need to be straightened and shaved to ensure a true surface

Yeah that will show you the timming marks and their proper locations...
It will take a little work but you should be able to do it... Been a long time sence I have worked on a 2.5
