How can I tell for sure that my factory stereo is not and upgraded ampified system like the Bose? My head unit doesn't have Bose displayed anywhere. It doesn't say Monsoon like my Trans Am did either. The factory sticker does say the it has an 8 speaker stereo option with CD/Cassette though. I want to replace the head unit but the only harness adapters that I have found are for non-ampllified systems.

I am pretty confident that if it were an upgraded system, your speaker grilles would say bose on them. You should have a non amplified system.

I'm thinking your right. My wife'* Acura has the upgraded Bose system in it, and it has "Bose" all over the place including the speaker grills like you stated.

I love non premium sound systems! Its the bose and monsoon ones that are the most difficult to change to your own. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with
