Wrong. You probably are unaware of this, but the Pontiac Bose systems didn't come with amps on each speaker. They have just one for the rear speakers and in the 6+ months I had a Pioneer deck in my 1999 SSEi I never had a problem. Current owner of the 99 is still running the stock Bose speakers with an aftermarket deck and still no problems 2 yrs later.

no, all of it. ever see the internals of their speakers? nothing more than a 2-way setup-bass blocker on the tweeter. bose just uses crazy equalization curves to make their speakers sound "good"

while you may think their name is overrated (trust me..I do) your comment is neither helpful or constructive in any way. Let'* keep this on topic and constructive to help Matt with his upgrade.

Just today I threw in my head unit on with all the stock speakers on a 99 with the bose system. I had to turn my gain way down on my hu because it was incredibly loud at low volume. replacing the rear 6x9s was a snap, and everything else sounds alright, I just cut all the bass out so i can turn the speakers up without them distorting. I'm curious as to a good way to wire the antennae lead so that it doesn't turn on whenever the radio is on. (had to wire it to the remote line of the hu as of now)
