Default bad radio reception with my electric antenna...on SSE 1988

I have suffered of a bad FM/AM reception for many years.
Last week end I have decided to scrutinize the antenna problem in depth.
I taugh I had a bad ground somewhere to find out that the spring center pin that connect the long cable to the rear antenna cable was broken.
I cutted both connectors ends and tried to connect the 2 pieces together but it did not worked at all (???) I think I have goofed the 2 components now (cable and the antenna)
Now I have found a new antenna but the long black "coax" cable that links the radio to the back antenna is discontinued from GM.
Is there an aftermarket coax cable existing for an SSE 1988?
Or maybe a way to reconnect the old long cable to the old antenna in a way that it will work?
Any ideas will be welcome.

when I worked at RadioShit, I sold many of these to do-it-yourselfers that screwed up their original plugs
