theft-lock on 00+ stereos?
as you guys saw in another thread i replaced my stock stereo with a Pioneer AVIC-D2. i was wondering if the stock one has to be cleared of the VIN for it to work in another car because i want to put it up for sale and i want to know if i should include that in the auction info. let me know. thanks

i just had to deal with that last week
provide your VIN # in the box you mail the radio in. this way the buyer gets the VIN number of the radio the car came from.
I had bought one out of an 02 Bonneville last week and they didnt ask for a VIN.
translated..you dont have to go through the trouble
FYI - Pontiac wants $55 to unlock the radios

If your buyer gets lucky, they may be able to get any GM dealer to unlock your head unit for free. They hook a little electronic gizmo up to it and 10 seconds later you are good to go. The delaer may be reluctant to help without the VIN, however, since that indicates that the piece may be stolen.
