i have a 1990 bonneville, and just installed an aftermarket HU today. the quest i have is the factory deck pulled alot of radio stations without any problem, even ones an hrs drive away. the problem i have now is since i installed the HU and the antenna adaptor i cant seem to pull any radio stations. the HU isn't an HD unit or anything fancy, just a jvc cd player. i also noticed that when i start the car it seems to get even less signal from the antenna in the HU vs turning the key back. does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?

JVC'* arent the cram ofo the crop, but havent heard of anu with signal sensitivity issues. I'd be doubting the adapter.

try installing an antenna signal booster or a repeater. I have the same problem with my eclipse in my 01 SE. Some head units just dont have the strongest antenna signaling to their tuners. The booster shouldnt be that expensive. This is the main reason that I use my satelite radio and ipod all of the time.

I had that problem with a Schoshe adapter, then I got the updated one and it was all fixed, I think it had something to do with the power antenna not getting enough power or any at all

i know jvc isn't the cream of the crop but if i wanted cream of the crop i would have gotten 1. i wanted a deck for better sound quality than the stocker i had in it, which it accomplished. i just can't listen to the radio. its not a power antenna so its not that issue, so i will have to check on the fm signal boosters that are out there. but thanks for the input and the replies

how about your am stations? i dont get any of mine since i put in my hu

I dont pull am either. When crunk mentioned power antenna, he didnt mean like a telescoping power antenna. He meant want that was electronically powered in order to pull signals better. It is not uncommon for cars to have a power antenna wire in the wiring harness. It will be an all blue wire. If you didnt connect that, it may take away from the strength of the signal that your antenna pulls. However, a booster should solve your problem completely
