Default Trunk Leak on 2000 Bonneville SSEi

I own a 2000 Bonneville SSEi and previously owned a 2000 Bonneville SLE. Both vehicles collect water in the spare tire storage area. I have removed the trunk liner and find that water is accumulating behind the tail light lense and drips into the trunk when I open it. I have removed and sealed the lense w/silicone caulk. I've also removed the rear spoiler and sealed each "bolt" with silicone caulk as well. No help. I'm clueless as to the cause. The trunk seal is below the area where the leak occurs. . . . so I'm certain that replacing it won't help.

To top it off, my neighbor just purchased a 2004 Gran Prix and has the same problem!.

Help!!

This answer is well covered in the 2000 forum.....where I'm moving this to. Just do a search on 'trunk' in the 2000+ mechanical and maintenance section.

Right at the top of the 2000 forum is a sticky outlining trunk water leaks with examples and fixes, kind of a common problem with our year of Bonnevilles.
