Default Transmissions that will work 2000 ssei

Ok, I realize my transmission is the 4T65E and the code is CH or CHB. I was told by a parts dealer the FHB is the same gear ratio (2.93) as the CHB and it will interchange with all supercharged vehicles. I'm not believing this until someone can tell me the difference in the transmissions. There has to be a difference if the number is different. Anyone know? Thanks.

Default Baby steps

1/ Look at your RPO code on the spare tire cover
that code will tell your ratio
2/ Get the trans ID code off the tag on the tranny
usually 4 digit
3/ Go to Car-parts.com and use the salvage yard cross reference to see what year fits
and/or
google> rebuilt auto transmissions, and see what some suppliers list

I know the ratio, it is 2.93:1 I just can't find anyone to confirm or deny if the FHB will work. It is also a 2.93:1 But there has to be something different. J

The 2000 SSEi have the 4T65E-HD transmission, which are a bit stouter than the standard 4T65E.

This is soooooo ridiculous on the prices of these things! Around here, used ones (if you can find them) are around 900-1000 bucks. Having it rebuilt locally is about 1400-1500 bucks, and you can find a tranny much cheaper from what looks like they could possibly be shady characters when it comes to warranty or core charge return. I had plans to completely fix this black beauty up to VERY nice condition again, but my gosh! I hate to put that kinda money in a car with 127000 miles on it. (other than adding bling of course, LOL). I guess I have no choice. Anyone have any trannys for sale? Must be CHB code on tranny.

Look in the For Sale area of the forum and or post a request in the Wanted area. You can also check on eBay...I've seen a few there as well.

That price is out of hand. For $1600 + shipping you can get this all rebuilt and ready to install ZZ Performance

I found a transmission for the heart stopping price of $125 at club GP, only thing wrong is a broken parking pin.

If I were suggesting a rebuilt trans, it would be Tripleedgeperformance.com

Guy does some amazing work.

Easiest way to ensure which will swap is to use car-part.com. It has a built in interchange. Most likely the difference is one the dealer is overlooking, like the webbing on the back of the trans case. Grand Prix'* didn't require it as they bolted to the side only, meanwhile Bonnevilles bolted side and back in your year.
